Downpour

Well, I am so happy to write, I am less than a WEEK away from leaving for Training Camp and Guatemala!!! A year and a half ago, when I applied for “Peru 2020”, I never would have thought that I would have gone through a global pandemic, had my mission location changed three times and gone through some of the most confusing/hard times in my life. But I did, and God knew that all along.

While I stressed over where I would be heading, or when I would be going, or who would be in my team; God was sitting up (ON HIS THRONE) in Heaven, looking down on lil ol’ me, going “Oh sweet child, if you would just let go and stop trying to be in control, you would know that it will all work out.” But I didn’t, and it has taken a toll on me that never even needed to be there. But that is now a part of my story, a memoir of God’s goodness.

Recently, I was scrolling through Tik Tok (as one does) and came across this video of a downpour in Guatemala, as the rainy season has just started. Now yes, this is absolutely beautiful, but one could argue, “it’s just rain.” Which is very true. We see rain pretty often, and what does it do? It waters our plants… makes our grass grow? That’s about it, I guess. But for some reason, this video brought tears to my eyes. The way that the rain downpoured on the dry ground, causing it to puddle up. It wasn’t just getting a small amount of rain that disappeared in minutes, but instead, there was an overflow and excess. The first thing that came to my mind was the line “he will come to us like rain” from Hosea 6:3 – it talks about how we are to “press on” to know the Lord, for his going out is as sure as the dawn, and that he will come to us like showers.

I became curious about other locations that rain is mentioned or connected to God, and I was led to Deuteronomy 32:2 which says, “May my teaching drop like rain, my speech distill as the dew, like gentle rain upon the tender grass”.  How often do we allow our teaching to drop like rain? And how often does our speech distill (to make pure and exact) like dew? Bringing purity through gentlessness to those we speak to? Man, that convicted me!

Well, if you have read this far, kudos to you 🙂 Thank you for reading!

I cannot wait to tell you all about training camp and my gals in a week or so!! Love you all, B <3
